Postcard Cabin in Hocking Hills: Tiny, Remote, Perfect
What happens when you swap the hotel lobby for the woods and never look back
What if you could enjoy the elevated comfort of a hotel stay, earn Marriott Bonvoy loyalty points, and still fully immerse yourself in the great outdoors? That's exactly what you get with Postcard Cabins, part of the Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy, and our stay in Hocking Hills, Ohio made a convincing case that this might be our favorite way to travel.
We came as a couple with one agenda: unplug. No itinerary, no reservations, no plans. Just a cabin in the woods and as much quiet as we could find. It delivered on every count.
First Impressions: Small Footprint, Big Impact
Postcard Cabins are private cabin rentals designed for a glamping-style getaway, tucked into scenic landscapes with hiking trails nearby and very little else to distract you. Arriving at Hocking Hills, the setting does exactly what you hope it will. The trees close in, the noise fades out, and the pace of everything shifts immediately.
The cabin itself is compact and intentional. Nothing is wasted, nothing is missing. It's the kind of space that makes you realize how little you actually need, which is either a revelation or a relief depending on the week you've had.
Sleeping in the Woods, Without Roughing It
The large windows are the design detail that makes Postcard Cabins feel genuinely special. Lying in the queen bed with the forest right there on the other side of the glass gives you the feeling of sleeping outside without giving up the comfort of heat, air conditioning, or a real mattress. It's a small thing that changes the entire experience.
For a couples trip built around rest and reconnection, waking up to that view every morning was exactly right.
Everything You Need, Nothing You Don't
The cabin comes thoughtfully stocked: a two-burner stove, outdoor fire pit, refrigerator, full bathroom, coffee, tea, snacks, a s'mores kit, and firewood. You can cook every meal over the fire, graze on snacks between naps, or pour a glass of wine and play cards at the dining table until it's time to go back outside and stare at the fire again.
That last option is what we chose, repeatedly and without apology.
The Marriott Bonvoy Angle
It's worth mentioning for points-minded travelers: Postcard Cabins are part of the Marriott Bonvoy Outdoor Collection, which means you earn loyalty points on your stay just like you would at any other Marriott property. For a glamping experience this good, that's a genuinely nice bonus.
Is It Worth the Stay?
For a couples getaway, a solo reset, or anyone who has been craving time outdoors without fully sacrificing comfort, Postcard Cabins in Hocking Hills is an easy yes. It's remote without being inaccessible, simple without feeling sparse, and quiet in exactly the way you need when the rest of life gets loud.
We came to unplug. We left wondering when we could come back.
